Washington lost some front court depth early this week as freshman forward Tristan Etienne has left the program, the school announced in a release.

The 6-foot-9 forward will remain in school for the fall quarter and has no plans to pursue a transfer, according to the release. Etienne is leaving the Washington program for personal reasons.

“We are truly sorry to see Tristan leave us,” coach Lorenzo Romar said in the release. “In his short time here, he has been a model citizen and shown to be a high level student.”

Washington now only has four players above 6-foot-7 on the current roster. Jernard Jarreau and Gilles Dierickx are both juniors, Shawn Kemp Jr. is a junior and Robert Upshaw is a sophomore transfer from Fresno State.

While Etienne wasn’t necessarily a difference maker, his size would have helped as insurance and an extra big man in practice this season.
