On Friday night, Danny Manning continues his success on the recruiting trail with his third commitment in the month of October, first in his Class of 2016, as Wesleyan Christian Academy (North Carolina) point guard Brandon Childress announced he had picked Wake Forest.

I am proud to announce that I have committed to play at Wake Forest University 🎩 #GODEACS

Childress, the 6-foot point guard, is the son of Randolph Childress, who is in his second season as an assistant coach after being promoted from his role as director of player development in the spring of 2013. Brandon Childress had offers from Charlotte, East Carolina and UNC Wilmington, according to 247Sports, where he was regarded as a four-star recruit.

The latest Wake pledge attends Wesleyan Christian, where he is far from the most coveted recruit on his own team. Fellow junior, Harry Giles, a 6-foot-10 power forward, is rated as the No. 2 overall player in the Class of 2016 by Rivals. The Trojans’ roster also includes the super athletic Kwe Parker, who is currently listed as a four-star prospect. Wake Forest has extended scholarship offers to both Giles and Parker

Manning received a commitment from 7-footer Doral Moore earlier this month, along with another pledge Bryant Crawford several weeks earlier.
