Indiana held its annual “Hoosier Hysteria” event at Assembly Hall Saturday night, and the program used the event as an opportunity to begin a new tradition. The program’s candy-striped warmup pants have been around for years, but prior to Saturday newcomers would simply receive them without any fanfare.

Saturday night, former Indiana players returned to campus to give each of Indiana’s nine newcomers their pair of warmup pants.

“I can’t take credit for that. It was an idea that was brought to me,” Tom Crean said following the event. “I think it’s fantastic and it will really take off as a tradition. That’s really what this is about - tradition. I don’t have the personality to dress up and do those things. It’s not about bringing in the biggest act. However, I would love to have Oladipo come back and sing.

“This really is about the tradition of the program and the fans. To have the former players intertwined with the new players, this makes them understand how big of a deal this is.”

Above is video of the presentation. As for the contests held, freshman Max Hoetzel won the three-point competition and freshman Nate Ritchie won the dunk contest.
