Purdue steamrolled NAIA opponent Carroll College (Montana), 90-49, on Friday night in the final exhibition game for the Boilermakers.
The highlight of the evening was Jon Octeus’ driving by one opponent with an in-and-out move before throwing down a two-handed slam over another Carroll defender.
The 6-foot-4 Octeus joins Purdue by way of Colorado State (and UCLA). The former Ram transferred to UCLA in June, but was denied admission in September. He became a huge late addition for Matt Painter, who was looking to add some experience to a perimeter that lost Terone and Ronnie Johnson. Octeus averaged 13.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for Colorado State during the 2013-2014 season.
Purdue opens the season against Samford at home next Friday.
