Kansas is hoping to have reserve point guard Devonte Graham back for Monday night’s game against Rider.

During No. 1 Kentucky’s 72-40 drumming of No. 5 Kansas on Tuesday night in Indianapolis, Graham went down with a shoulder injury. Kansas head coach Bill Self said on Friday afternoon that his freshman floor general hasn’t practiced the last two days, but is hoping he will be available on Monday night at home.

“Devonte’ sprained his shoulder against Kentucky from a fall,” Self said in a statement, according to Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star. “He left the game to get it checked. It’s sore, and he’s taken a couple of days off. But we anticipate him back in practice in the next day or two.”

Graham played only 14 minutes on Tuesday night. He had an impressive debut against UC Santa Barbara last Friday, scoring a team-high 14 points, dishing two assists and grabbing four rebounds in a 69-59 win. Graham sparked a late first half run turning a deficit into an eight-point halftime lead for the Jayhawks.

Tip for Monday night’s game is set for 8 p.m. After that the Jayhawks head to Florida for the 2014 Orlando Classic, drawing upstart Rhode Island in the quarterfinals.
