Josh Perkins suffered a brutal -- and seemingly inadvertent -- kick to the face in a scary collision during No. 10 Gonzaga’s win over Georgia at the Preseason NIT.

It wasn’t pretty:

And now we know how bad it was: Perkins has a broken jaw, according to ESPN.com. He was taken to the hospital where he remained until 6 a.m. on Thursday morning. His jaw has been wired shut.

Perkins was a top 30 point guard recruit that was averaging 6.3 points and 4.3 assists.

It’s unclear how long he will be out, but there are two roster notes to make here: If he misses the rest of the season, Perkins will be eligible for a medical redshirt. And Silas Melson may end up having to burn his redshirt season if that is the case.
