Georgia will be without junior guard Kenny Gaines for a little while after the 6-foot-3 junior was hospitalized during a home win against Colorado.

According to a report from Tanya Sichynsky of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gaines sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder chasing down a ball with 11:59 left in the second half. Gaines’ shoulder was crushed when a Colorado player fell on his arm. His right arm is currently in a sling.

“It’d be a significant blow if he’s injured and we’d have to have the next man really step up,” Georgia head coach Mark Fox said after the game.
Doctors have not given a timetable for Gaines to return but said the injury would keep him “out for a while.” Georgia gets two weeks off and doesn’t play until Dec. 21, but they could still use the junior as he’s averaging 11.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

Hopefully Gaines recovers fully from this injury because Georgia really needs him healthy for the SEC portion of the schedule coming up shortly.
