After averaging 8.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as a junior, St. Bonaventure guard Jordan Gathers underwent hip surgery in June and had not played a game this season as a result. With the nephew of the late Hank Gathers still rehabbing from that injury, the program announced Friday that Gathers has decided to leave the program.

“We are sorry to see Jordan leave but understand his desire to pursue other opportunities,” St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt said in the release. “Jordan has been a good teammate and student over his time with us and I am proud that he earned his degree in three and a half years. We wish him all the best and know he will be successful.”

Gathers, who recently completed his bachelor’s degree according to the release, made 25 starts in his time at St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies currently have five double-digit scorers, including guards Marcus Posley, Jalen Adams and Andell Cumberbatch, and they’re off to an 6-2 start to the season.
