After playing a total of six minutes in the first two games of the season, sophomore center Schuyler Rimmer eventually made the decision to leave the Stanford program. Sunday evening the Florida native announced his destination via his Twitter account, as he’ll be joining Billy Donovan’s program at Florida.

According to Jeff Borzello of ESPN.com Rimmer will join the program, which he originally committed to in August 2012, as a walk-on.

“So excited to continue my career at the University of Florida! It’s a great day to be a Gator,” Rimmer said in the tweet.

Rimmer played in just 16 games during his time at Stanford, averaging 4.7 minutes per game in those appearances. The 6-foot-10 Rimmer played four minutes in Stanford’s season-opening win over Wofford, accounting for one point and one rebound.

Rimmer will likely be eligible to play in games in December 2015, and he’ll be one of two transfers joining Florida’s front court next season with former USF center John Egbunu being the other.

Florida, which also has juniors Dorian Finney-Smith, Alex Murphy and DeVon Walker, sophomore Chris Walker and freshman Devin Robinson in its front court, has received signed National Letters of Intent from big men Noah Dickerson and Kevarrius Hayes.
