Marquette’s roster has been depleted ever since John Dawson and Deonte Burton decided to transfer out of the program.

Even with Luke Fischer getting eligible in December, Marquette has just eight scholarship players available and nine that will dress for practice.

And while Steve Wojciechowski has one of the most talented staffs in the country -- Wojo, Travis Diener, Chris Carrawell, Tyler Thornton, Brett Nelson and Justin Gainey are all on staff, making for some mean pickup games -- it’s really hard to run a college practice without having enough guys on the roster to play 5-on-5.

So the Golden Eagles tapped into the women’s basketball team for help. Michael and Matthew Mache, 6-foot-5 twins that played their AAU ball for the Mac Irvin Fire, suited up for the first time when the Golden Eagles beat Providence. They had spent the last two-and-a-half seasons working as managers for the women’s basketball team.
