Eight days ago it was announced that Memphis sophomore forward Kuran Iverson, who’s averaging 4.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.9 minutes of action per contest, was suspended for the Tigers’ trip to Texas (two games) for a violation of team rules. Wednesday it was reported by the Memphis Commercial-Appeal that Iverson remains suspended, with Memphis set to host Cincinnati (Thursday) and UCF (Saturday) in their next two games.

According to the report, Memphis head coach Josh Pastner did not off an answer when asked whether or not Iverson would be allowed to return to the team (or when he’d be allowed to return if so). A day after his suspension was announced, Iverson received some unwanted attention for his comment via Twitter when asked why he’d been suspended.

Memphis split their two games in Texas last week, losing by 14 at SMU and rebounding to beat Houston 62-44 Sunday afternoon. That win was a much-needed result for a team that’s 9-6 overall and 2-2 in American Athletic Conference play, as the Tigers had lost two straight games after beating the Cougars in the conference opener for both on New Year’s Eve.

The absence of Iverson didn’t have much of an impact in either game last week, with eight players playing double-digit minutes against both SMU and Houston. Nick King, who missed the SMU game with a sprained ankle, played nine minutes Sunday against Houston.
