New Mexico governor donates $10,000 to Lobo star’s charity

Last week, Hugh Greenwood made headlines for calling out a twitter user that decided it was a good idea to crack incredibly inappropriate jokes about Greenwood’s mother, who is battling cancer.

His postgame interview after scoring 22 points in a win at UNLV went viral, the result being the twitter account was deleted and, more importantly, the link to his fundraiser for cancer research -- Pink Pack -- was shared just as much as the story about his response.

The latest to donate? New Mexico governor Susana Martinez, who donated $10,000 to the cause.

“I am donating $10,000 from my inaugural committee to the ‘Pink Pack’ because the only way we will find a cure for cancer is by joining together, pooling our resources, and focusing on the lifesaving mission that everyone can fight back against cancer,” Martinez told the Albuquerque Journal. “I am so proud of Hugh for standing beside his mother, for taking the high-road during the UNLV game, for having the courage to fight against cancer—for his own family and for others—and that is why I am standing by Hugh today.”

Greenwood responded with a tweet:
