With Kansas scheduled to be in town, February 7 was already expected to be a big day for Oklahoma State. The second meeting of the season between the two Big 12 programs received an added boost on Friday, as Oklahoma State announced that it will be honoring the 1994-95 Final Four team during halftime of that game.

That team was the first of two that Eddie Sutton took to the Final Four while at Oklahoma State, and players such as Bryant “Big Country” Reeves and Randy Rutherford led the way to Seattle. The Cowboys, who won the Big Eight tournament title that season, beat Drexel, Alabama, Wake Forest and UMass before falling to eventual national champion UCLA in the Final Four.

“We’re excited to honor our 1994-95 team as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of a great run to the Final Four,” Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford said in the release. “We welcome them back with open arms and are thrilled to have them return to Gallagher-Iba Arena. That team’s run was a shining moment in our history and I look forward to being around those guys.”

Of course there can’t be a mention of this Final Four team without video of “Big Country” shattering a backboard during the team’s open practice at the Kingdome the day before the national semifinals.
