On Saturday, Syracuse played their first game since self-imposing a one-year postseason ban, meaning that after the game, the media got a crack at asking Boeheim about the ban and about the fact that his program has now been barred from the NCAA tournament twice.

Jim’s response? (It comes at the 2:58 mark.)

“I don’t give a s--- what those people think.":

The Orange nearly knocked off their old Big East rival, losing 83-77 on the road, and to hear Boeheim tell it, he was proud of the way that his boys played despite the fact that the university mandated that the team no longer has anything to play for this season.

“No, I was not,” Boeheim said when asked when he was concerned his team would quit in light of the punishment. “This team’s played hard all year; they’ll play hard all year. There’s many teams that are 6-18 right now and they play their a** off. There’s no excuse not to play your a** off. If you’re in college and you’re playing, or if you’re in high school and you’re playing, or if you’re eighth grade or sixth grade and you’re playing, or if you’re playing in the summertime, if you don’t play your a** off, then you shouldn’t be playing. Anybody who doesn’t get that doesn’t get sports and probably has never played sports.”

Whatever, Jim.

That one-year postseason ban is still a copout and a slap in the face to Rakeem Christmas, a kid that has carried your team this season.

Don’t throw a hissy-fit when you get called on it.

Just own it.
