Tuesday night West Virginia picked up its 22nd win of the season, as they took care of a struggling Texas squad 71-64 in Morgantown. It was a busy day for the Mountaineers, but it was also one they won’t ever forget. Prior to the game the program welcomed five year-old Nicholas Wince into the program, with Wince joining the program he’s a big fan of thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Wince, who was diagnosed with a hypoplastic left heart early in his life, arrived on campus in a limousine and spent the day with the Mountaineers. There was the opportunity to meet head coach Bob Huggins and his staff, and the players with Wince taking a particular liking to sophomore forward Devin Williams (who he called “Goggle Guy”).
Nicholas participated in the full game day routine, getting some shots up in shootaround, eating with the team at the pregame meal and even sitting in the locker room as the players received their final pep talk. Prior to the game Wince signed his National Letter of Intent, and then watched his favorite team with his family from courtside seats.
