Utah State has hired longtime assistant Tim Duryea to replace Stew Morrill, according to a report from ESPN.com.

Duryea has been with the Aggies since 2001, when he was hired as an assistant. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2008.

Morrill retired after the 2014-15 season after spending the last 17 seasons in charge of the program, turning USU into a mid-major powerhouse out west. Utah State made eight NCAA tournament and four NITs from 2000-11. They’ve only made a postseason -- the CIT -- once in the last four years.

Utah State joined the Mountain West Conference prior to the 2013-2014 season. The Aggies were 18-14 this past season.
