Georgetown will lose junior guard and Big East all first team selection D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera to the NBA Draft, the school announced on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-3 Smith-Rivera helped lead the Hoyas to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament before a loss to Utah. He averaged 16.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game for Georgetown this season.

“D’Vauntes has decided to enter the NBA Draft,” Head Coach John Thompson III said. “He has given a great deal to this program and we will do everything we can to help him pursue his goals.”

This is obviously a major loss for Georgetown, as Smith-Rivera was a major contributor in nearly every facet of the game. Defensively he averaged 1.6 steals per game. The junior also was 42 percent from the floor, 38 percent from 3-point range and shot 86 percent from the free-throw line -- making him one of the conference’s premier closers.
