Wagner played for the Alba Berlin youth program and made the senior team that played in the Euroleague, but he never signed a professional contract. Staying an amateur allowed him to play college basketball in the United States starting next season.
Wagner also played for Germany in the FIBA U18 European Championship in the B Division and has been described by scouts as a stretch four. He’s Michigan’s first Class of 2015 commitment and should give the Wolverines additional size while also giving head coach John Beilein the stretch option that he covets from his big men.
