With Shonn Miller missing the entire 2013-14 season at Cornell due to injury but remaining enrolled in classes, the 6-foot-7 forward needed to find another school for his fourth season of eligibility. Per Ivy League rules, a student-athlete has to completely withdraw from school in order to receive a “fifth year” at their institution.

Miller’s found a new home, as it was reported by ESPN.com Saturday afternoon that he’s decided to attend UConn next season. Miller will be a graduate student next season, and his addition is a big deal for Kevin Ollie’s program. Miller made his decision while visiting the UConn campus.

One of the best players in the Ivy League last season, Miller averaged 16.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 31.3 minutes of action per game. Miller hit the ground running in his season debut after shoulder surgery forced him to sit out the 2013-14 season, as he scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a win at George Mason.

Miller tallied 11 double-doubles in 2014-15, with seven being games in which he accounted for at least 20 points and ten rebounds. Adding Miller to interior options such as Amida Brimah, Kentan Facey and incoming freshman Steven Enoch will make the Huskies a better team in the front court than they were a season ago.

Add in a deep perimeter that will be anchored by freshman Jalen Adams and versatile sophomore Daniel Hamilton, and the Huskies should at the very least be back in the NCAA tournament. And talent-wise, they should be in the mix atop the American alongside reigning champion SMU, NCAA tournament participant Cincinnati and Tulsa.
