New VCU head coach Will Wade is in the process of finalizing the roster for the 2015-16 season, and Thursday afternoon he landed a commitment from a graduate student who can help the program immediately.

Former Oral Roberts guard Korey Billbury announced that he will be joining the VCU program next season, and with his undergraduate studies completed he’ll be eligible to play immediately. The 6-foot-3 Billbury was ORU’s second-leading scorer last season with an average of 14.4 points per game, and he also accounted for team-highs of 7.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest.

Billbury, who was a second team All-Summit League selection, shot 39.6 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc in 2014-15.

He’ll be one of two seniors in the VCU backcourt next season, joining Melvin Johnson, and rising junior JeQuan Lewis returns as well. With the Rams losing their leading scorer in Treveon Graham, the addition of Billbury gives them a player capable of helping to pick up the slack offensively.
