DePaul has granted junior guard Durrell McDonald his request to transfer and incoming freshman Raymond Doby his release from his letter of intent, the school announced on Friday evening.

McDonald, the 6-foot-2 guard, averaged 4.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in a tick under 24 minutes per game this past season.

Doby’s has had a complex history with the Blue Demons program without ever appearing in a game. In the spring of 2014, the three-star recruit from Montrose Christian School (Maryland) signed his letter of intent. By August, he had requested his release, reclassified and enrolled at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy (Wisconsin). Doby joined former Miami guard Shane Larkin, Nebraska starting center Walter Pitchford, current transfer forward Braeden Anderson and 2015 recruit Jon Davis as DePaul recruits who signed, but never played for DePaul during Oliver Prunell’s tenure.

Doby would sign again in November 2014.

DePaul’s incoming class includes shooting guard Elijah Cain and power forward Develle Phillips, both three-star recruits, as well as two-star forward Oumar Barry.

Dave Leitao returned to the school as head coach on March 29, replacing Prunell, who decided to parted ways with DePaul after five seasons.
