Having already put together a solid three-member recruiting class consisting of perimeter players who can help the team in the future, SMU added a fourth commitment in the Class of 2015 Thursday evening. Power foward Simeon Carter, who attends West Charlotte HS in North Carolina, announced his pledge to the SMU program according to the Team United grassroots program.

The 6-foot-9 Carter averaged 14.5 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game as a senior, and he joins a front court that won’t lack for either depth or talent heading into the 2015-16 season. Markus Kennedy will be back for his senior season, as will Jordan Tolbert, and Ben Moore will be a junior.

SMU also adds former Duke forward Semi Ojeleye next season, although he won’t be eligible to play until the end of the fall semester. Those experienced players should help Carter get acclimated to the college game, with an eye towards him being a key contributor when Kennedy and Tolbert move on at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season.

According to Scout.com, Carter also held offers from Temple, South Carolina and Kansas State. Carter joins guards Sedrick Barefield, Shake Milton and Jarrey Foster in SMU’s 2015 recruiting class.
