Former Old Dominion forward Richard Ross went undrafted during the 2015 NFL Draft, but he has interest from a few teams, according to a report from Harry Minium of the Virginian-Pilot.

The 6-foot-6 Ross was productive for the Monarchs on the hardwood during his senior year, averaging 8.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game but he figured that professional football might be more of his calling. According to Minium, Ross has an offer from the Minnesota Vikings to participate in the team’s mini-camp this week but he’s also entertaining other offers.

Ross worked out for the Vikings on Old Dominion’s campus during the pre-draft process and Minnesota also signed Old Dominion’s former quarterback, Taylor Heinicke to a three-year contract after he also went undrafted. Clearly, the Vikings were impressed with multiple Monarchs during that workout and Ross could have a chance get some more reps on the professional level and potentially make a team or a practice squad.

Other former college basketball players who worked out for NFL teams this spring include former Penn State forward Ross Travis, former Clemson point guard Rod Hall and former Kansas State forward Thomas Gipson. Former Miami (OH) guard Quinten Rollins transitioned to football and played cornerback for his final season of college athletics and was selected in the second round by the Green Bay Packers on Friday night.
