Nebraska picked up a transfer guard on Tuesday as former Louisville guard Anton Gill committed to the Cornhuskers. The commitment was confirmed by Gill’s former grassroots coach, Dwayne West with Garner Road, on Twitter.

Gill played in 31 games and averaged 2.5 points per game during his sophomore season. The guard averaged 9.5 minutes per game and shot 35 percent from the field and 25 percent from 3-point range.

The 6-foot-3 native of North Carolina was a former top-50 prospect in the Class of 2013 and never seemed to find his footing at Louisville. Gill will have to sit out the 2015-16 due to NCAA transfer rules and he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.

The Huskers pick up a talented guard and get a fresh start with him after the departure of freshman guard Tarin Smith this spring. Overall, a nice pickup for head coach Tim Miles, especially if Gill can regain the form that made him a four-star prospect in high school.
