Auburn center Trayvon Reed has been released from jail, head coach Bruce Pearl confirmed during the SEC meetings in Florida.

“He is on his road to recovery,” Pearl told the Montgomery Advisor. “He’ll be back this summer. He will be back in school this summer.”

Reed, who initially planned to enroll at Maryland, was arrested last July in College Park. He was seen by a police officer shoplifting less than $6 worth of snacks, and when the officer tried to arrest him, Reed fought back and broke fingers on the officer’s hand. He eventually enrolled at Auburn in December, playing sparingly for the Tigers for the final three months of the season. In April, he was sentenced to 15 days in prison.

Reed is expected to return to campus at some point this summer.
