Kansas landed a commitment from four-star guard LaGerald Vick in May and it was unknown which class Vick would try to join. That question was answered on Tuesday as a source confirmed to NBCSports.com that Vick will join the 2015 recruiting class for Kansas to play in the 2015-16 season.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard had a tremendous spring in the Under Armour Association and could give the Jayhawks a perimeter scorer off the bench. Vick’s addition should also help push starting two guard Wayne Selden, who has been inconsistent during his career at Kansas.
A former SMU commit, Vick opened up his recruitment and became a hot commodity thanks in-part to his big spring with Team Thad. The guard averaged 17.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range in 12 games this spring. With an ability to score off the bounce or shoot with deep range, Vick could help as a floor spacer in the short term. He’ll need to add strength to his skinny 175-pound frame if he wants to maximize his potential.
Vick also took visits to Kansas State and Kentucky this spring after re-opening his recruitment and joins a talented three-man 2015 class at Kansas that includes five-star big men Cheick Diallo and Carlton Bragg. Rivals bumped the Jayhawks up to the No. 7 overall recruiting class in 2015 with Vick’s decision to enroll this year.
