Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek has declined a meeting with Iowa State officials citing a lack of interest in their open head coaching position, according to a report form CycloneFanatic.com.

That’s where things took a turn: Hornacek’s agent, Steve Kauffman, denied the report in the comment section of that very story.

“We represent Jeff Hornacek. Rarely do I post but I will simply say this story is inaccurate,” Kauffman -- who, according to CBSSports.com, is actually Kauffman -- posted. “Jeff loves his alma mater and the facts are simply wrong here.”

"[That he’s] under contract is the key. School knew they had to request permission in a certain manner from the Phoenix Suns. I do not wish to allocate the blame as to the parties at fault here. But it’s a shame.”

Hornacek has just one year left on his contract with the Suns and is an Iowa State grad, which made him an intriguing candidate with a brand name. As we wrote earlier today, Hornacek would have been the kind of hire that would garner the Cyclone headlines, the kind of hire that it is believed school President Steven Leath would like to make.
