Virginia Tech lost a player last week when Malik Mueller decided to transfer. They quickly replaced the junior’s spot with a commitment from the junior college ranks as the Hokies added Tyrone Outlaw from Lee College, according to multiple reports.

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Outlaw played for UNC-Greensboro as a freshman and averaged 14.6 minutes per game. Outlaw transferred to Lee to seek out more consistent playing team while improving his recruiting stock and he averaged 21.8 points per game last season as a sophomore.

He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining and replace some of the perimeter punch that Mueller contributed. Virginia Tech head coach Buzz Williams had plenty of success recruiting the junior college ranks at Marquette and he’s already taken three junior college players with the Hokies.
