Xavier got on the board in the Class of 2016 on Monday as power forward Tyrique Jones pledged to the Musketeers. The 6-foot-7 Jones announced his commitment on Twitter.

Although Jones is a tad undersized for a power forward, he weighs 235 pounds and isn’t afraid of playing in a physical manner. Playing his high school ball at Vermont Academy, Jones is known as a strong rebounder. Rivals rates Jones as a three-star prospect and he’s currently ranked as the No. 115 overall prospect in the 2016 national rankings.

With Expressions Elite in the Nike EYBL this spring, Jones averaged 7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game while also standing out on the defensive end with 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. With James Farr and Jalen Reynolds leaving the Musketeers shortly, Jones should help fill the void on the interior of a rugged presence who can rebound and defend.
