Shaka Smart landed a commitment on Tuesday as the new Texas head coach received a pledge from Class of 2016 guard Jacob Young. The younger brother of recent Oregon guard and Indiana Pacers second-round draft pick Joseph Young, Jacob is a three-star guard, according to Rivals. He announced his commitment on Twitter.

Jacob Young is 6-feet-0 and weighs 165 pounds. He represents the first commitment for the Longhorns in the 2016 class and they’ve been aggressive targeting other players as well. Much like his older brother, Jacob shoots the ball very well and could become a nice addition as a scorer for the Longhorns. Young goes to Yates High School and runs with Howard Elite on the grassroots circuit.
