Xavian Stapleton’s transfer options became a little broader earlier this week, as Louisiana Tech decided to dial back the restrictions it originally imposed on the rising sophomore guard.

Sean Isabella of the News Star in Monroe, Louisiana reported that the university has reduced the number of restricted schools to 20. Originally, the university had blocked Stapleton from 55 -- yes, 55 -- schools. He is now only barred from transferring to the 13 Conference USA schools, non-conference opponents on the 2015-16 schedule and the University of Florida.

As Isabella notes, the number of blocked schools will jump up to 27 restricted schools after Louisiana Tech fills out its non-conference schedule for the upcoming campaign.

On June 23, the Clarion-Ledger reported that Louisiana Tech had blocked the 6-foot-6 guard from transferring to other schools located in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas and the University of Florida in addition to the 20 schools he is still barred from transferring to. Florida, of course, is the university that hired away Louisiana Tech head coach Michael White in May.

Stapleton averaged 6.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Stapleton has visited Alabama, Iowa State and most recently, Mississippi State.
