While five-star shooting guard Rawle Alkins has yet to announce where he’ll be attending prep school next year, the former Christ the King (Queens, New York) star and Brooklyn native took a step forward in his recruitment Saturday. Alkins announced that he’s now focusing on ten schools, with Indiana, Kentucky and St. John’s making the cut as many anticipated.

Also still in the running for Alkins, who isn’t expected to make a decision until the spring, are Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, Maryland, UNLV and Texas.

One of Alkins’ five official visits was learned in mid-July, with Zagsblog.com reporting that he’ll be at Kentucky for “Big Blue Madness” in mid-October. He’s been a focal point for both Indiana and St. John’s, with the Red Storm making a concerted effort following the hiring of Chris Mullin and assistants Barry Rohrssen and Matt Abdelmassih.

Alkins, who didn’t play with the New York Rens in Las Vegas last week, is currently playing at adidas Nations in Long Beach, California. In mid-July he and fellow 2016 guard Mustapha Heron teamed up to lead the Rens to the adidas Gauntlet Grand Finale title in Atlanta. Below are Alkins’ highlights from the event as put together by Courtside Films.
