Texas is on the board with its first commitment in the 2015 class as four-star guard Eric Davis committed to head coach Rick Barnes and the Longhorns during a press conference at his high school on Tuesday night.

A native of Saginaw, Michigan, the 6-foot-3 Davis announced his decision at his high school, Saginaw Arthur Hill.

The No. 52 prospect in the class, according to Rivals, is one of the better guards in the class and chose Texas over LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina State and UNLV. Kentucky showed interest in Davis and had him to campus for an unofficial visit but the Wildcats ultimately never offered Davis a scholarship.

Davis made multiple unofficial visits to in-state Big Ten powers Michigan and Michigan State and official visits to UNLV (August 8th) and Texas (August 30th) during the recruiting process.

Davis is the first Texas commitment in 2015 and Barnes continues to do well on the recruiting trail after landing McDonald’s All-American Myles Turner and four-star small forward Jordan Barnett in the 2014 class.

In 17 EYBL games this spring and summer, Davis averaged 17.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the field and 29 percent from three-point range.
